Geotechnical Engineering

Every structure is only as reliable as the soil it stands on. Masatha delivers comprehensive geotechnical investigation and engineering services, combining field drilling, in situ testing, and laboratory analysis to provide the data engineers and project owners need to design and construct projects with confidence.

What we offer

Our geotechnical capabilities span the full investigation cycle from initial field drilling and sampling through to laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and geotechnical reporting for design and tender purposes.

Borehole drilling & sampling

Rotary and auger drilling to depths of up to 300 m, with SPT testing and undisturbed sampling for laboratory analysis and foundation design.

Foundation investigation & design support

Geotechnical assessment of bearing capacity, settlement, and ground conditions to support foundation design for buildings, bridges, dams, and infrastructure.

Pile investigation & testing

Site investigation to support pile foundation design, including drilling to pile depth, soil profiling, and load bearing capacity analysis.

In-situ testing

Standard penetration tests (SPT), field CBR, point load, density, moisture content, and field permeability testing conducted at the investigation location.

Slope stability assessment

Investigation and analysis of natural and engineered slopes, embankments, and cuttings to assess stability and inform remediation or design decisions.

Geotechnical reporting

Comprehensive factual and interpretive geotechnical reports, prepared to the standard required for engineering design, regulatory submission, and government tenders.

Our Approach

Desk study & investigation planning

We review available geological and project data to design an investigation program that is targeted, efficient, and fit for the project's design requirements.

Field investigation & in-situ testing

Drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing are carried out by experienced field teams using our own rigs and equipment, following documented field procedures.

Laboratory testing

Recovered samples are tested in our IQAS-accredited laboratory using calibration-certified equipment, covering classification, strength, compressibility, and permeability.

Engineering interpretation & reporting

Field and laboratory data are interpreted by qualified geotechnical engineers and presented in a clear, structured report ready for design or tender use.

Credentials & capability

Masatha operates its own drilling rigs, field testing equipment, and a fully equipped geotechnical laboratory — all maintained to current calibration standards. Laboratory testing is conducted under our IQAS-accredited framework, providing legally recognized, government-accepted results for tender and regulatory submissions across Iraq and Kurdistan Region.
