Our Story
Masatha did not begin as a large company, it began as a focused team. Our foundations were laid by consultants and engineers who took on design, feasibility, and soil investigation work as a subcontractor, serving some of the region's leading engineering firms on contracts with government and private sector clients.
The quality of that work, and the reputation it built, created the conditions for something more. Over time, the team grew, the scope of projects expanded, and a dedicated engineering bureau Akito Engineering was established to take on projects directly. The experience and track record gained during that period made one thing clear: to serve clients at the highest level, the company needed its own laboratory infrastructure, field equipment, and permanent technical staff.
That need gave rise to Masatha as it exists today, a company with its own accredited laboratory, calibrated testing equipment, specialist field rigs, and a full team of engineers and technicians, ready to support projects in Geotechnical, Geophysical, and Seismic Works, Hydrologic studies, environmental studies, and Topographic survey from the planning stage through to construction completion.

Meet Masatha Company's Senior Leadership
Engr. Layth Hanna Iskandar
Managing Director
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering / Basrah University, obtained in 1984.
- Member of both the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate and the Kurdistan Engineers Syndicate, with the professional rank of Consultant Engineer.
- Extensive experience in the execution of oil, energy, and infrastructure projects, supported by a distinguished track record in project management and delivery.
- His expertise also includes negotiations, contract management, and project financing.
- Throughout his career, Layth has successfully led and managed a number of major construction projects across Iraq, contributing significantly to the development of the engineering and construction sectors.
Dr. Maysoon Khalil Majid Askar
Founder & Executive Director
- PhD in Dams and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Technology.
- Almost four decades of professional and academic experience, and numerous scientific research papers published in conferences and specialized journals.
- Recognized as one of Iraq’s leading experts in water resources, irrigation, dam engineering, and geotechnical investigations, with extensive experience in the design of irrigation systems and dams in the country.
- Supervised many construction laboratories throughout her long career.
- Leading Masatha Company since 2011, overseeing all soil investigations, geotechnical, geophysical, and seismic studies, topographic surveys, and structural testing projects carried out.
- Dedicated her scientific expertise and professional experience to supporting the company’s success and development.
